Why it is free

Zad is sadaqah jariyah, maintained by a small team who pay for the hosting themselves. No paid tier, no in-app purchase, no advertising SDK and no analytics — so there is no version of Zad in which you become the product.

Offline means offline

Prayer times and the qibla bearing are computed on the device. Mushaf pages and recitations download once and stay. On a flight, in a basement, on a dead SIM — the app does not change behaviour.
